Artist Statement

George has been a painter, in oils, for over 45 years. He was inspired by his father, a recreational painter, who continued to paint until the age of 95. The artist Winslow Homer was another early inspiration. Composition and color are the two important ingredients in his art. Landscapes and seascapes have been favorite subjects, from such diverse places as Provence, Paris, the Amazon River, Iraq, Monhegan Island, and coastal areas near his Georgetown, Maine residence. George also collects and restores antique frames, which he often carefully matches with his paintings.
